Art Show

SAID Gallery Presents: West/MidWest

This show we are very excited for. There is a new space in town and it’s The SAID Gallery in downtown Encinitas. It’s been long overdue that Encinitas harbored a space this fucking cool.

Vivid Minds live here, a collective of next level creatives wrangled together by founder/owner/creativedirector Brent Lievsay. The space downstairs is straight up Williamsburg, not just in look, but in stone-cold coolness and artistic energy. It has been creative center to artist Ryan Maher who has been working on a few amazing pieces that are sure to draw attention. Ryan is only one of the eight renowned artists showing at SAID opening on the 31st of August. If you haven’t been exposed to the art/design of Adam Jafry (poster designer), Ariel Diaz, and Kyle Fletcher, or the music of The Mattson 2 to name a few, we strongly recommend you check out the show.

Kid Creature + Aloha Sunday + Tomorrows Tulips

Witness This had the pleasure of heading down to Aloha Sunday in North Park, San Diego this Friday for Hassle The Harvest featuring art from Kid Creature and Music by Tomorrows Tulips. We had been down to Aloha Sunday once before to buy some gear, but to see the shop lit up with vibrant faces in evening style, and great music, made for a great new vibe to a still relatively new shop. Unfortunately we didn’t bring down a good camera, but were able to snap off some iphone pics regardless. It was great to see Calvin and family repping Kid Creature to the fullest all night, we are huge fans of this collaboration with Sunday and couldn’t be happier with the merchandising and selection already saturating the shop. Billy and Kahana did all of the interior decorating themselves, everything from wall trim, to the product displays. We can’t wait for them to hopefully start selling their extremely functional/stylish tents they had set up in the back of the store as well. You’ve been Witnessed, Kid Creature, Aloha Sunday, and Tomorrows Tulips.

Wellen Body Surfing Art Show

There aren’t too many free activities in this world with an equally outstanding simplicity to fun ratio as bodysurfing.   All you need are five minutes, the ability to swim, and the tiniest of waves – fins and handplane optional.  So is bodysurfing cool now?  Heck no, it’s always been cool and always will be.  Catch a wave gliding down the face on your bare torso and tell me I’m wrong.

Wellen is a San Clemente surf shop focused on simple beach life.  Come on down to the shop to see a large cast of artists and bodysurfing enthusiasts all celebrating a commonality, a love for all that is bodysurfing.

Date: July 30th 2011 @ 6 pm
Location154 Avenida Granada San Clemente, CA 92672
Artists: Skye Walker, Keiron (SeaMouse) Lewis, Ciro Bicudo, Jen Peters, Anthony Faucheux and more.

Beer will be provided by Primo with coverage by Liquid Salt Mag.

Wellen Handplanes + Enjoy Handplanes will both be on display as well.
