Alle Farben

allefarben_sound_witnessthis

Chalk up one more point for the Berlin, Germany Team. Alle Farben is our next heavy hitting DJ/Producer straight from our favorite deep house district. Yes, it’s Monday, and you might be thinking it’s too early for a deep house set. We can assure you, it isn’t. It’s never too early or too late, and if you are searching for a creative boost, press play or download the set below for free. I pride myself on only posting the best of these mixes and this one takes it’s place near the top. Tasteful, melodic, soft, deep, and energetic, but never hurried. Alle mixes on purpose because it’s exactly the right moment to do so. Underneath his own label, Alle will be constantly a part of our Soundcloud stream for years to come. Without further delay, we present to you Alle Farbe, 37 Luminous Green.

Jai Paul

Jai-Paul-Everlasting_witnessthis-950x532

From London England, Jai Paul has just released another track with his label XL. Previously released BTSTU turned heads like mad, and now Jasmine feels just as good. Jai has proven to be as low profile as they come and details on the release of his first 16 track album has been tough for music bloggers to pin down and regardless I’m sold on what he is doing. The gritty grind of his beats, the ambient high-pitched sweet yet smooth vocals set apart Jai’s sound. I have no idea really what genre his music is, hence the absolutely vague tags below. Listen below and on his Soundcloud page, pick up a few tracks on Itunes, then get in line as we wait to find out more information on his full release.

Sigurd Grunberger

From Denmark, Sigurd Grunberger captures some magical moments. This series titled Last Summer, makes us all dream that our last summer looked something like this. The warmth of this series, created by the golden hour, fields, and the car he shoots in make us feel like we are basking in the sun even at the office.

Alexandra Vacaroiu

I came across Alexandra Vacaroiu’s work last week and was immediately enamored. She hales from Romania and is currently studying photography and film at the National University of Arts in Bucharest. When we asked her about her work, she told us, “I’m more interested in recreating scenes from dreams or photographs with a dream-like atmosphere. The aim is to transcend the limit between reality and imagination.”

“Usually, people experiment dreams in an unconscious estate, alone. A dream cannot be dreamed in two or more people. This is a very personal travel, an escape from mundane that can become collective if expressed through art. I am interested in this realm because , since childhood, I had very intense dreams, colorful, and they always left me with a strong sensation of experiencing another reality, even for short term. Dreams are nothing more than manifestations of subconscious, but even bearing this in mind, my fascination continued for years. I have expressed my soft spot for this theme in writings and most of all photography. My series , “ Constellations”, exhibited at National Peasant Museum, in Bucharest, is comprising my theory with a universe within and interconnection, all expressed in a dream-like atmosphere.”

Alexandra’s projects have been selected by United Creativity organization and resulted in an exhibition in Krakow and London, with the aid of Warsaw Cultural Institute. Make sure you visit her site for more breathtaking work.

Berlin Winter

2199197
We will be featuring much more content this year from guest writers all over the world. We hope you enjoy our first of many, from Berlin Germany, Hinrich Wittern.

Rough Berlin winters turn out to have a favorable influence on the music the city produces. Here are some of my latest favorites to fight the cold and join the wonderful Witness This crew. Enjoy.

1. A brand new Apparat album is about to be released – A violent sky: Hypnotic. Melancholic. Beautiful.

Voo Store Berlin Part 2

We featured Voo for the ladies last week, but now it’s all about the guys. Opening Ceremony, DSTM, Carven, and Acne are a few of the brands gracing the Voo store’s interior. Blacks, grays, and browns usually tell winters story and as a lot of the items at Voo still scream winter with oranges and traditionally fall hues, we love how color is still a focus and finds itself scattered through the line. Check out the ladies post from last week if you missed it! Voo Ladies.
