Freshair May Mixtape: Spring has Sprung

Anyone who grew up in the Midwest remembers that one kid who wore shorts the first time the temp reached 60. I used to laugh at that lad…but now, I get it. Warm weather is rad. No matter where you live, there is a collective energy when the sun is out, when the days are longer and when the breeze is warm. Less skin, more smiles…ah yes, Summer is nigh.

This compilation, a slight deviation from the continuous DJ Mixtapes from Freshair, is a reminder of that feeling. A reminder that to keep it loose and shake off the cold from the Winter. Get the tank tops out and the sunscreen prepped, for Spring has most definitely sprung. Listen UP folks and witness my tank top tan.

Freshair April Mixtape: April is Calling

Coming from a place of the deepest inspiration, I may have jumped out of body to make this April Mixtape. I have been feeling some of these tracks for awhile, searching for a place to let them free. Tonight I found it. As I hope my prior mixes have shown, I believe that different parts of the day require different vibes of music. This is where the skill of a dj really comes in. Right music at the right place and time. I dream of creating the ideal soundtrack to my life…to our lives.  So, when you are ready to listen, open up the windows and let the freshair in. Perhaps it will provide the perfect setting to get your night going or possibly work best through a pair of headphones as a musical massage for your brain as you wind it down. Regardless of where this is for you, let these tracks take you to the place where less is most.

The main inspiration behind this mix was from the soundtrack and film ‘Berlin Calling’.  This movie has changed the way I hear music and for some reason, I kind of knew it would. Download the mix, watch the opening scene and rent the movie if you feel so inspired. Go ahead, listen UP…April is calling.

If you haven’t already, download the mix from soundcloud by clicking here or clicking on the little arrow to the right of the soundcloud bar above. And check out the clip from Berlin Calling below.

Fresh and Sunny Vol. II: Daylight Savings

“When we were kids, this meant an hour later of playtime, of sunlight…of life. When we “grow up”, nothing changes. It is one of the few things that draws us back to youth. Music is another that induces memories of the past. I LOVE you music.

This mixtape was produced on the eve of Daylight Savings. Two DJs, thankful for the Spring and Summer months ahead and all the greatness that will come with it. Designed to compliment warm air and the alpenglow of the evening, this mix is special. Not only because we believe the tunes are dope, but because how it was made. Collectively, openly and with purpose.

So, be thankful for that extra evening hour of freshair and 78 & sunny temperatures because that is what it is all about. Remembering youth, innocence and bringing it to the present. Toss in this mixtape and take yourself to where it is always…”

Freshair’s February Mix

Taking inspiration from the c90s out of London and Tropicool out of Los Angeles, this freshair mix might be just what the doctor ordered. Where the January NYE 2012 Palm Springs Mix kept your soiree rocking until the wee hours of the morning, this mix is a perfect hors d’oeuvres to the party. These grooves are just that…groovy. Not exactly meant in the way we would have said it in the 1960s, but meant more as in a funky vibe. A feeling of cool without really trying or knowing why. Imagine yourself in a chic loft overlooking the city of your choice, a tasty beverage in hand, the best of friends surrounding you. It’s certain to be an epic night. Let this bad boy be your guide into goodness. Listen UP and Witness THIS.
