Skye Walker is a creator. While the rest of us are getting hammered silly at the bar or watching tv, Skye is busy painting, designing, capturing and immersing himself in nature. Photography ranks on the lower end of his self-described skillset but we beg to differ. These photos were taken recently at Swami’s in Encinitas, California. In this set Skye took advantage of the bioluminescence (red tide), clear sky, and low tide to create some nice images using his Canon T2i Rebel 550D. Use this set as inspiration and a reminder that you have to get out of your comfort zone to become a creator. The future belongs to those who are willing to get their hands dirty.
There aren’t too many free activities in this world with an equally outstanding simplicity to fun ratio as bodysurfing. All you need are five minutes, the ability to swim, and the tiniest of waves – fins and handplane optional. So is bodysurfing cool now? Heck no, it’s always been cool and always will be. Catch a wave gliding down the face on your bare torso and tell me I’m wrong.
Wellen is a San Clemente surf shop focused on simple beach life. Come on down to the shop to see a large cast of artists and bodysurfing enthusiasts all celebrating a commonality, a love for all that is bodysurfing.
Beer will be provided by Primo with coverage by Liquid Salt Mag.
Wellen Handplanes + Enjoy Handplanes will both be on display as well.
Our friend and friend to all, Skye Walker, was commissioned to give some life to the Whole Foods Encinitas. This is his largest publicly commissioned project to date and many late hours were put in to make this a reality. He put his mark on literally every square foot of this space. Stop in to check it out and impress your friends or that random attractive shopper with the knowledge of the name behind the art.
Our friends Skye Walker and Kassia Meador continue to impress us with their art, awareness, and big hearts to help those in need. They will be auctioning off some art for Hang Together this Saturday at Surf Indian in Pacific Beach, Ca to benefit the victims of the massive earthquake and tsunami combo in Japan. There are a lot of great artists involved, live music and if you’ve ever been to an art show you know about the free dranks. Get out of the house and get inspired, all for a good cause.
Our friend and talented artist Skye Walker gave Witness This the heads up about an upcoming art show he is featured in. Get over to Surface Art and Culture in Oceanside on February 11th from 6pm-11pm for some great art and live music. Something tells me there will be free dranks as well.
