Kapitan Hansen

Captain Hansen took over 15,000 photos as he traveled the world by plane during the 60′s and 70′s. They tell a story of life on the road, sometimes glamorous and other times lonely. The collection was found in shoe boxes labeled such titles as, “Singapur 72” or “Afrika 66″. The German Captain tells his story through these vintage slides and brings us to places in time we would have never seen.

The exhibit of his images is on display at the Tuer Galerie in Berlin.

Home – A Moment In Your Life

It is history that paves the way for a new beginning. Each instant that passes induces progression and creates the next moment in your life. It was in 1970 that John Lennon gifted his friend and founder of HOME, Richard Ross, with the phrase “A moment in your life Richard,” reminiscing on their shared comprehension of living in the now.

The legend of HOME was conceived in 1969 when Richard Ross committed to embracing the atmosphere of home and the diversity of music at his bar/restaurant on 92nd and 2nd in New York City.

Unfortunately, Ross was soon diagnosed with Hodgkin’s Disease, though he was devoted to keeping his establishment open. HOME quickly became home to local, John Lennon who mutually feared loosing grasp of his life due to his voice on his beliefs. Hence, “A moment in your life” was cultivated. Lennon had the phrase printed on the back of HOME t-shirts as a gift to his friend, Richard Ross.

After becoming too ill, Ross sold HOME in 1978 and sadly, passed away on March 20th, 1984. Among others, Ritchie Havens, Alice Cooper, Ten Years After, Blood Sweat and Tears, and David Bowie all graced HOME with their presence before its close.

Home A Moment In Life Store

The legend of HOME was reborn when it was opened as a clothing store in San Diego by Ross’ three nephews. The stores’ interior encompasses the family’s passion for music and art. Their personal collection of vintage rock t’s are hung throughout the stores to be admired.

Feal Mor

Badass vintage shit. Started by JP Plunier Feal Mor is an online shop specializing in boutique styling and custom one of a kind artifacts. I say artifacts because the items, whether clothing or jewelry should be in a museum. Here is what JP says about his program:

Personally , I don’t only wear Feal Mor. I wear Levi’s and Vans and sometimes one of my Blucher Mocs I bought in 1978. I wear my French Vintage Jump Jacket from 1947 and other times my M 65 I’ve had since high school. But I also wear my 2007 VisVim moccasins and my 2003 Hermes suede Blouson. So what the fuck? All I’m sayin’ is I always hated it when I would go into stores and the people who worked there looked like they were forced to wear the brand. And I don’t want to do that at this store either.

Check out some of my favorite pieces and head to the store now to see more:

Whiskey Charlie / California Collection

Who doesn’t like a travel bag? What about a handmade travel bag made from vintage denim, leathers, and canvas? We came across Whiskey Charlie, a line of bags made by the beautiful and talented Rachael Leina’ala recently and had to feature them. Not only is there a conscious attention to detail in the materials used, but the hardware pays homage to Chicago in the 1890′s. Lenzip zippers are still made in Chicago to this day, and Rachael tells us she LOVES oversized zippers which is why she uses these ones in particular.

“I kind of like the name Whiskey Charlie- has an old fashion American appeal when America was about manufacturing and exporting quality products, and building goods that lasted a lifetime- when things were a bit slower, and you knew your neighbors.” Rachael explains, “I ended up painting the denim- just because I like to paint. It was a whim. I really just love denim, leather, and big zippers- reminds me of American quality.”

You can pick them up here: CaliforniaCOLLECTION

Rachael is also crafting some stunning bags from the sails from sailboats for her project L33 California. Grab a sneak peak at them below.

Witness Russ Roe

A good friend turned us on to this “hand made one of a kind thrift shop recycled clothing” online store. Hard not to like Russ Roe’s feel and it kind of seems like the apparel version of Labyrinth Ear, lots of character, low fi, alternative, and really well put together.

Visit Russ Roe now, we like this shop a lot and encourage you to buy something. You can pretty much guarantee that none of your friends will have the same article of clothing.
