Happy Music Monday! This weeks first group is Fujiya and Miyagi. Hailing from Brighton in the UK, The origins of the band’s name come from a character in the film, The Karate Kid as well as the brand of a record player. The lines “We’re not a couple of shadowboxers/Oh/Oh/Just two Anglo-Saxons” from the 2008 track Butterfingers and “We were just pretending to be Japanese” from Photocopier may be comments on the band name and how it is perceived. I have a few close friends that saw them live and were quoted as saying, “wow, so cool! but weird and fuck I danced!” I think that pretty much sums them up. Ventriloquizzing is there 4th album.
