Seapony is the purest of lo-fi surf pop – simple drums, reverbed vocals, fuzzy guitars and beautiful predictable lyrics. Hailing from Seattle, they released their debut LP Go With Me at the end of May. I find it funny that the most obscure and unimportant surf places of the world have produced the best surf pop in this movement. Maybe it’s that longing for the warm days, sunsets, palm trees, and clean waves that create the most energetic and focused passion for this genre of music. They are akin to the sound of Best Coast, Real Estate, Beach Fossils, and Electrelane.
